The relationship between nasal septal deviation and anatomical variations of the paranasal sinus

Objectives: The aim of this study was to determine the relationship between septum deviation and anatomic variations paranasal sinus. Methods: A total 157 (79 males, 78 females) patients ages 17 77 years (mean age: 33.7 ± 14.9 years) were included in study. Using sinus computed tomography imaging, anatomical including nasal septal deviation, Agger nasi cells, Haller Onodi Cells, sphenoid pneumatisation, paradoxical middle turbinates, turbinate maxillary septa,vertical septa sinus, optic nerve dehiscenceand cribriform plate lamina lateralis height evaluated. Results: cells present 47.1% cases, seen 5% cases observed 23.6% cases. In 70.1% one vertical observed. Maxillary 16.5% There a significant negative correlation female gender increased pneumatisation (p = 0.035). positive presence (pright =0.045, pleft 0.017). also 0.001, 0.005). Conclusions: our study, we found that septa, nasi, height, septation interrelated. We recommend surgeons evaluate with these prevent complications.
